The Power to Redesign Your Life
Specificity is a tenet of the NLP model of communication. The specifics of your speech produce the emotions you feel. When you speak with specificity, it awakens your emotions so that your subconscious can more accurately manifest your spoken word. When your spoken word is aligned with your heartfelt emotions, creation begins.
Have you ever sat in an audience and listened to a presenter speak from a place that was not connected to his/her heart? How did you feel when that happened? When a presenter speaks distinctly from the heart, what does it do to you? What would happen if every word you uttered was distinctly from your heart? How much more impact would you have as you walked in the world?
Of course, it’s easy to be “clever” with words. But being clever and speaking wholeheartedly are not necessarily the same thing. Maybe you know this already. How often have you held back in your speech because you sensed that such heartfelt words would have too powerful a result?
Your thoughts and your language are creative. As you think and speak, you produce emotions, and those emotions create new neuro-networks in the brain and throughout the body. The electrical charge from your thoughts will follow the path of least resistance, and through classical conditioning and repetition, those thoughts and repeated emotional states form deeper and more complex neuro-networks until they harden into your character. This is how you reinvent yourself physiologically over and over again. Using specific perceptual patterns unique to you, you have habitually thought, languaged, imagined, and felt “you” into existence.
This can go on forever, but it’s your choice “who” you will create next. When you are alert to the “specifics,” you stay emotionally connected to your language. Emotions are the key to creating new ways of creating the “you” that you desire to become. Vague, generalized language is a form of fear and does not produce enough specificity for your subconscious to manifest your word. Your subconscious mind interprets feeling as fact. By asking simple questions such as Who? When? What? Where? With whom? and How? you can produce the emotions that will manifest desired outcomes.
Stop speaking about the past and focus on your outcomes for the future using specifics. Experience the feeling of your dream already manifested. This will bring your future to now, manifesting your destiny with every word you speak.
Conversely, the less you use outcome specific language and the more you disconnect emotionally from your dream, the more you will distance yourself from your divine right to create your life from your heartfelt desires. When you speak with specificity, you begin to feel more deeply, more accurately, more powerfully. Specificity drives the emotional body. Once you understand how it is you create and what filters you are using to interpret the world, you can change how you create and filter in the future. You can manifest choice. This is the goal for all practitioners of HNLP because scarcity of choice is the greatest source of pain you will ever feel. And abundance of choice will be your greatest joy. Choose your language carefully.
