Making it all Up!
So when we know that we are making it up and we’re with someone else and we know they’re making it up, it’s a really wonderful thing to take personal accountability for the emotional states you create in yourself based upon how you’re filtering the world. What is the difference between the internal dialog and the language that you send out? Your internal dialog is richer with content, you have a tendency to filter more on the outside. Have you ever seen people who have lost the filter to discriminate what comes out of their mouth. It’s generally people downtown standing on Broadway who are screaming obscenities at someone who is not there. They’ve lost the filter to actually discriminate what comes out of their mouth. They’re just speaking from what’s in here now.
When you stop saying it, do you stop thinking it? The premise is that, if it does not exist in language, it does not exist in thinking. Just like the tribe in the Philippines who have no word for war. They’ve never been at war. If we have no symbol to represent it it won’t exist here. When we step out of languaging from I want and I need and I’m trying, which is all out of the victim archetype, and we step into I choose and I am, what happens? Emotionally inside of us we step into a place of ‘I’m choosing this from a power within myself of personal accountability.’ So we stop thinking victim archetype and into action. The way the emotional states are, at least within myself, there are emotional states that oftentimes I feel like I have no control over that emotion because it has been an habitual way of thinking and perceiving, which is linked to all kinds of past experiences, which brings up trauma for me and then I feel it all over again. What I’m suggesting is the exact same method that we use to develop that response we can use the exact same method to develop an empowered emotional response through habitual thinking, habitual languaging and habitual imagination.
Your present reality – In this exercise write your first thoughts about your beliefs, your feelings and ideas on one of the following subjects as you become aware of them. Now, what if I’d like to say here is I’m choosing rather than to go by a subject that if you had an issue in your life, perhaps it’s health, perhaps it’s money, perhaps it’s your relationship with whatever you’re calling god for you, perhaps it is divine partnership, a marriage or a great friend, whatever it is. If there is one place in your life that if that shifted your life would take a quantum leap. What I’d like you to do just in silence is think about what that one place in your life, if it shifted, you would make a quantum leap with your life. It may be one of these subjects, but I’d like you to think about what that one thing would be. You’re going to write the first thoughts that come to your mind. Let your words flow freely. The less you filter mentally the more accurately your words will represent your subconscious belief systems. Be spontaneous. Write down your first words unedited. Make complete sentences and let your emotions flow. We’ll be using these paragraphs in subsequent exercises so write clearly enough that you will be able to read your own handwriting. I’d like you to write down your current reality on how you are experiencing this limitation now, how it’s been for you. Please begin.
Specifics in speech produce emotions. When we speak with attention to specifics and align our emotions to what we speak, our subconscious is more fully programed for manifesting our spoken word. When our spoken word is aligned with our heartfelt emotions, creation begins. Have you ever sat in an audience and listened to someone speak who spoke from a place that was not connected to their heart? And what is the feeling that you have when that happens? There is a certain lack of vitality in the speaking. When a person speaks distinctly from their heart, what begins to happen? What would happen if every word you spoke in your conversations with people or in your stories with people was right from your heart? Would people be impacted that much more? It’s very easy to be clever with words. Sometimes it’s very challenging to speak from your heart because the emotions behind the words is what gives the words impact. So when we speak, because our speech has so much power when it is aligned with our emotions, things happen.
Specificity produces emotions. Why is that important? Did you know that thoughts are literally vibrations and as we think those vibrations become a habit. As we think more brain cells are attracted to that particular vibration and we begin to create neuronetworks in the brain. When emotion is linked to the thinking, the vibration is amplified, more brain cells are attracted, deeper and more complex neuronetworks are formed. What does that do? It intensifies and creates more of your reality. This is how you have physiologically made you to be you. With your very specific ways of perceiving, you have habitually thought it, you’ve languaged it, you’ve imagined it and felt it to be so. You have created the neuronetworks that when you perceive something those neuronetworks fire off and the built neuronetworks of another type of perception. How we have literally physiologically built ourselves to be who we are today is through contemplating habitually, languaging it habitually and feeling it to be as if it is, habitually. And then we become it. And then we begin to perceive our world through those particular filters. And this is how we have become who we are.
We use the exact same system to develop a new set of perceptions and filters to view our life from. And that’s what this whole weekend is about. How did we do it? And how do we do it now?
Specificity. When we are alert to what provides us with the specifics we stay emotionally connected with our language. Answers to the following questions provide those specifics.
Who, when, what, where, with whom and how.
They begin to provide specifics to our language. The more you stay ‘out there’ the more disconnected you are from your heart. But when you get to specifics, that’s when you feel it. Specificity drives the emotional body.
Non-conscious language categories: deletion, distortion, generalization, negation and disempowerment.
Language of deletion. Now this goes right back to the NLP model of communication. Remember, delete, distort and generalize? That’s what our filters do. Our subconscious mind requires specifics in order to manifest our desired outcomes. When we delete specifics about our desired outcome our subconscious mind does not have adequate information to produce the desired results. When we focus on where we do desire our lives to go we send the previously untapped 90% of our potential in the direction of our heart’s desire. By focusing the specificity on our outcome, we utilize our divine right use of will and mental energy toward creating our reality.
Now how many of us use our mental energy on our story? You just wrote your stories out, right? How much time do you spend there? Have you ever been in conversation with someone and they’re in their story and they’re talking about their life and then you ask them, ‘What is it that you really desire? Where is it that you’re really going?’ Do they have a lot to say then? As much to say about the specifics of their past? They’ve got less to say, is that true? What if they had more to say? Would that be interesting to listen to? Where are you going? What is it you really desire? But when you ask them about their life, what you generally get are huge stories.
Now this brings to mind a story. There was once a tree called the Wishing Tree. And this man in India, this fakir, sought his whole entire life for the Wishing Tree. If you sat underneath the Wishing Tree, what would happen is, as you dwelt on it, whatever you thought about manifested. He sought his whole life, he sat underneath the tree and he said, ‘What I wish for is a beautiful palace.’ And as soon as he had the thought a beautiful palace appeared. And then he said, ‘What I really would love is a beautiful maiden.’ And as soon as he had the thought, a beautiful maiden appeared. And he had the thought, ‘What’s really missing here is a huge banquet for us to enjoy.’ And as soon as he had the thought a huge banquet appeared. And then he said, ‘Oh, my god. Everything I’m wishing for is coming true. There must be a monster behind this.’ And as soon as he had the thought a monster appeared. And then he said, ‘Oh, my god. It’s got fangs. It’s a meat eater. It will devour me.’ And as soon as he had the thought he was devoured.
Now we’re sitting under the Wishing Tree every breath we take. The left and the right brain, the cranium, whatever we are dwelling upon, habitually, consistently, over and over again, is what is manifesting outside of us. That is what’s happening. And you’re doing it. So if you’re dwelling on your story, guess what you get to have more of. More evidence that your story is true. So if you’re into, ‘I’m not enough. There’s lack or scarcity. I’m not loveable. I’ll always be poor.’ Guess what comes forward to demonstrate itself out in your world. More of that. More evidence of that. I’m not pretty enough, I’m not thin enough, I’m not fat enough, My hair’s not blonde, my hair’s not red.
