Holding Yourself Accountable

How We Think

How We Think

Your self esteem is in direct proportion to your ability to keep your word.  To be fully you, keep your word.  Treat commitments you create for yourself through the Inner Talent processes as a promise and a pathway to build self-esteem therefore the ability to take action.

When you create a commitment for yourself to accomplish any of the Inner Talent Coaching processes, only commit to that which you can keep your word to.  The level to which you keep your commitment to yourself is in direct portion to the level of your self esteem.

 The Holding Yourself Accountability

Step 1.   When you agree upon an action and it was not taken and a commitment was not fulfilled take inventory of all the facts.

A.   What action was taken.

B.   What action was not taken.

C.   What was the resistance in performing the action.

D.   What did you do instead of taking the appropriate action.

E.  Were you committed to the goal, if not , for what reason.

F.  What are  your beliefs about commitment and the possibility of achieving your goal.

Get to the Source

Step 2. Ask yourself the following questions:

A.   What would happen if you did keep your commitment.

B.   What would happen if you don’t keep your commitment.

C.   What wouldn’t happen if you did keep your commitment.

D.   What wouldn’t happen if you didn’t keep your commitment.

When your commitment is broken you have several options.

Option 1. Make the commitment again and leverage the accomplishment to a higher value.

Option 2. Increase the commitment.

Option 3. Decrease the  commitment.

Are you beginning to see?

Time & The Human Mind

Time & The Human Mind

Did you know that just by simply imagining vividly, specifically, till you felt it to be real, your nervous system wouldn’t know the difference.  How many of you can terrify yourself?  How many of you can put yourself into bliss?  You do it the exact same way.  Vivid imagination, imagining it till you feel it to be real, and it becomes real for you.  How can you use this to take the chariot of your mind and direct it toward your home.  So my invitation to you is, pick up the reins and steer your horses via your language and your imagination.

Are you beginning to see that, when you begin to harness the power of the imagination and the power of your language, your life can metamorphose and truly, in my experience, whatever else I have done which has been valuable, has fallen in importance and power because I have yet in the past to clean up the thing that is consistently programming my emotional states which is my imagination and my language.  I’ve hung out naked for a week with a team of people screaming and tearing apart futons about the rage about their parents.  How much more can you do?  I’ve been celibate for 15 years eating nothing but tofu and green beans meditating 3 and a half hours a day from 3 till 6 in the morning every day for 15 years going for god.  And I’m here to say that, no matter what I have done to wake myself up, this has been the most important generative thing I have done.  Because, for me to be able to sit in meditation, in order for me to sustain an emotional state strong enough to have me get value by being able to still my mind in meditation… if my mind is running amok for 22 hours a day, what makes me think I’m going to be able to still it in 2.  This information sustains and supports everything.  This is the foundation which we are required to stand on because it is the foundation of mindfulness, of living our lives with purpose and with mindfulness.  Live your life as if every word is a prayer coming into reality because speaking is your self fulfilling prophecy. So is your imagination.  Whatever you are focused upon you are still sitting under your wishing tree and you will manifest it.  Either it is the monster will the long fangs that is a meat eater and will devour you or it is your beautiful princess or prince in a palace.  Either one – god just looks down and says Yes!  You are using your god-given ability to create.  You go for it.  That is tying the legs of your camels and then surrendering.  It’s time to do it.

We’re going to do a process called the theater of change.  It’s based on the NLP phobia technique and one of my thoughts is that we are this amazing being that has a whole series of pictures, sounds and feelings via our internal representational systems and that these internal representational systems act as drivers for much of our behavior and how we hold our reality.  What we’re going to do is we’re going to shift the pictures, sounds and feelings of your past.  It’s going to happen by partnering with me.  Any work that is ever done with a client that I do is you take 50% of the responsibility, as do I.  I will set up the environment for you to make the change and you’re the one who makes the change based upon the focus of your mind and your desire to have it be so.

So those of you who have had in the past the seemingly poor visualization skills, you actually have great visualization skills.  Just take the specific modality that you’re representing your experiences from, whether it’s kinesthetic or auditory, give a symbol to what those sounds or those feelings are and visualize that way.  Remember, the subconscious takes things very metaphorically and symbolically.  We’re going to enter a theater of your past.  You wrote the movie, you starred in it, you produced it.  You are the maker of the internal representations of your entire experience from conception to now.  You made it up.

So when you’re ready to just allow yourself to go into a more focused and concentrated state within yourself, allow your eyes to close.  Uncross your arms and your legs so the energy flows freely in your body and we’re going to go inside, deeper than you’ve gone before, allowing yourself the opportunity to begin to allow those parts of you that know how to change begin to change.  And what I’d like to suggest to your collective subconscious minds is that it now has an opportunity to begin to meet its highest prime directive by allowing the unresolved emotions from your past in a process that can be very quick and very powerful to begin to shift and change the unresolved emotions of the past in a way that is easy and comfortable, knowing that the highest prime directive of the subconscious mind is to preserve the body.  And as I speak to your collective subconscious I’d like to suggest to your subconscious to know that any stress caused by unresolved emotions is less than optimal for the human body.  So as your subconscious begins to understand the opportunity it has, your conscious mind can begin to drift, drifting to a place of focused concentration where your conscious mind can begin to let go.  That’s right.  Just letting go in a way that’s right for you.  Letting go in a way that is comfortable for you as your subconscious begins to understand the opportunity it has now.  So as your body begins to relax, allowing all the sounds you hear, the tone, the tempo of my voice, the sound of your breath entering and exiting your body, allowing yourself to feel the surface on which you’re sitting, awareness of how your hands, your arms, your legs, your feet are and allowing a sensation of just letting go and going deep, deep and even deeper into the state of awareness of the many different wonders within yourself.  And as you continue to focus your mind, imagine that you are now in a theater, a theater looking up at the screen and as you look at that screen, sitting in the theater, imagine a part of you, the observer part, the part of you that’s in control, lifts up out of that body sitting in the theater, and sits in the projection room of that theater.  And imagine now being in the projection room looking down at your body watching the screen and just breathe and be there with me in the theater of your own mind.  We’re going to review a film.  This is the film of your life.  You starred in it, you produced it, you directed it.  You’re going to edit it now.  I’d like to suggest to your subconscious mind that all of the positive learnings, all of the positive learnings from your life, is preserved in that place that you retain for such learnings.  Allowing all of those learnings beautifully and generatively contribute to your life from this point forward.  Allowing your subconscious mind through the internal representations that you have carried up to now to begin to shift and change in such a way that allows you now to have a different set of pictures, sounds and feelings which promote and produce the necessary internal representations to fulfil your life purpose in the optimum manner, according to your destiny.

Making it all Up!

Time & The Human Mind

Time & The Human Mind

So when we know that we are making it up and we’re with someone else and we know they’re making it up, it’s a really wonderful thing to take personal accountability for the emotional states you create in yourself based upon how you’re filtering the world.  What is the difference between the internal dialog and the language that you send out?  Your internal dialog is richer with content, you have a tendency to filter more on the outside.  Have you ever seen people who have lost the filter to discriminate what comes out of their mouth.  It’s generally people downtown standing on Broadway who are screaming obscenities at someone who is not there.  They’ve lost the filter to actually discriminate what comes out of their mouth.  They’re just speaking from what’s in here now.

When you stop saying it, do you stop thinking it?  The premise is that, if it does not exist in language, it does not exist in thinking.  Just like the tribe in the Philippines who have no word for war.  They’ve never been at war.  If we have no symbol to represent it it won’t exist here.  When we step out of languaging from I want and I need and I’m trying, which is all out of the victim archetype, and we step into I choose and I am, what happens?  Emotionally inside of us we step into a place of ‘I’m choosing this from a power within myself of personal accountability.’  So we stop thinking victim archetype and into action.  The way the emotional states are, at least within myself, there are emotional states that oftentimes I feel like I have no control over that emotion because it has been an habitual way of thinking and perceiving, which is linked to all kinds of past experiences, which brings up trauma for me and then I feel it all over again.  What I’m suggesting is the exact same method that we use to develop that response we can use the exact same method to develop an empowered emotional response through habitual thinking, habitual languaging and habitual imagination.

Your present reality – In this exercise write your first thoughts about your beliefs, your feelings and ideas on one of the following subjects as you become aware of them.  Now, what if I’d like to say here is I’m choosing rather than to go by a subject that if you had an issue in your life, perhaps it’s health, perhaps it’s money, perhaps it’s your relationship with whatever you’re calling god for you, perhaps it is divine partnership, a marriage or a great friend, whatever it is.  If there is one place in your life that if that shifted your life would take a quantum leap.  What I’d like you to do just in silence is think about what that one place in your life, if it shifted, you would make a quantum leap with your life.  It may be one of these subjects, but I’d like you to think about what that one thing would be.  You’re going to write the first thoughts that come to your mind.  Let your words flow freely.  The less you filter mentally the more accurately your words will represent your subconscious belief systems.  Be spontaneous.  Write down your first words unedited.  Make complete sentences and let your emotions flow.  We’ll be using these paragraphs in subsequent exercises so write clearly enough that you will be able to read your own handwriting.  I’d like you to write down your current reality on how you are experiencing this limitation now, how it’s been for you.  Please begin.

Specifics in speech produce emotions.  When we speak with attention to specifics and align our emotions to what we speak, our subconscious is more fully programed for manifesting our spoken word.  When our spoken word is aligned with our heartfelt emotions, creation begins.  Have you ever sat in an audience and listened to someone speak who spoke from a place that was not connected to their heart?  And what is the feeling that you have when that happens?  There is a certain lack of vitality in the speaking.  When a person speaks distinctly from their heart, what begins to happen?  What would happen if every word you spoke in your conversations with people or in your stories with people was right from your heart?  Would people be impacted that much more?  It’s very easy to be clever with words.  Sometimes it’s very challenging to speak from your heart because the emotions behind the words is what gives the words impact.  So when we speak, because our speech has so much power when it is aligned with our emotions, things happen.

Specificity produces emotions.  Why is that important?  Did you know that thoughts are literally vibrations and as we think those vibrations become a habit.  As we think more brain cells are attracted to that particular vibration and we begin to create neuronetworks in the brain.  When emotion is linked to the thinking, the vibration is amplified, more brain cells are attracted, deeper and more complex neuronetworks are formed.  What does that do?  It intensifies and creates more of your reality.  This is how you have physiologically made you to be you.  With your very specific ways of perceiving, you have habitually thought it, you’ve languaged it, you’ve imagined it and felt it to be so.  You have created the neuronetworks that when you perceive something those neuronetworks fire off and the built neuronetworks of another type of perception.  How we have literally physiologically built ourselves to be who we are today is through contemplating habitually, languaging it habitually and feeling it to be as if it is, habitually.  And then we become it.  And then we begin to perceive our world through those particular filters.  And this is how we have become who we are.

We use the exact same system to develop a new set of perceptions and filters to view our life from.  And that’s what this whole weekend is about.  How did we do it?  And how do we do it now?

Specificity.  When we are alert to what provides us with the specifics we stay emotionally connected with our language.  Answers to the following questions provide those specifics.

Who, when, what, where, with whom and how.

They begin to provide specifics to our language.  The more you stay ‘out there’ the more disconnected you are from your heart.  But when you get to specifics, that’s when you feel it.  Specificity drives the emotional body.

Non-conscious language categories: deletion, distortion, generalization, negation and disempowerment.

Language of deletion.  Now this goes right back to the NLP model of communication.  Remember, delete, distort and generalize?  That’s what our filters do.  Our subconscious mind requires specifics in order to manifest our desired outcomes.  When we delete specifics about our desired outcome our subconscious mind does not have adequate information to produce the desired results.  When we focus on where we do desire our lives to go we send the previously untapped 90% of our potential in the direction of our heart’s desire.  By focusing the specificity on our outcome, we utilize our divine right use of will and mental energy toward creating our reality.

Now how many of us use our mental energy on our story?  You just wrote your stories out, right?  How much time do you spend there?  Have you ever been in conversation with someone and they’re in their story and they’re talking about their life and then you ask them, ‘What is it that you really desire?  Where is it that you’re really going?’  Do they have a lot to say then?  As much to say about the specifics of their past?  They’ve got less to say, is that true?  What if they had more to say?  Would that be interesting to listen to?  Where are you going?  What is it you really desire?  But when you ask them about their life, what you generally get are huge stories.

Now this brings to mind a story.  There was once a tree called the Wishing Tree.  And this man in India, this fakir, sought his whole entire life for the Wishing Tree.  If you sat underneath the Wishing Tree, what would happen is, as you dwelt on it, whatever you thought about manifested.  He sought his whole life, he sat underneath the tree and he said, ‘What I wish for is a beautiful palace.’  And as soon as he had the thought a beautiful palace appeared.  And then he said, ‘What I really would love is a beautiful maiden.’  And as soon as he had the thought, a beautiful maiden appeared.  And he had the thought, ‘What’s really missing here is a huge banquet for us to enjoy.’  And as soon as he had the thought a huge banquet appeared.  And then he said, ‘Oh, my god.  Everything I’m wishing for is coming true.  There must be a monster behind this.’  And as soon as he had the thought a monster appeared.  And then he said, ‘Oh, my god.  It’s got fangs.  It’s a meat eater.  It will devour me.’  And as soon as he had the thought he was devoured.

Now we’re sitting under the Wishing Tree every breath we take.  The left and the right brain, the cranium, whatever we are dwelling upon, habitually, consistently, over and over again, is what is manifesting outside of us.  That is what’s happening.  And you’re doing it.  So if you’re dwelling on your story, guess what you get to have more of.  More evidence that your story is true.  So if you’re into, ‘I’m not enough.  There’s lack or scarcity.  I’m not loveable.  I’ll always be poor.’  Guess what comes forward to demonstrate itself out in your world.  More of that.  More evidence of that.  I’m not pretty enough, I’m not thin enough, I’m not fat enough, My hair’s not blonde, my hair’s not red.

Watch and be alert to today!

Language is Powerful

Language is Powerful

Watch and be alert to today, what you are saying, and are you speaking in outcome.  I get all teary when I think of this because it’s like, it’s such a big piece.  It seems like such a little thing, doesn’t it?  It is a big thing.  It’s a really big thing.

“Language of exaggeration.”  In the language of exaggeration we produce vagueness by omitting personal and specific information.  By using exaggeration, we speak nonpersonally, unrealistically, as an avoidance of our feelings.  Emotions are the key ingredient to having our word manifest.  Remember, the subconscious mind takes your language literally.

Now, I’m going to repeat what I said last night, and this is really important, because emotions are key.  In our culture we have 750,000 words to use that literally cut at the root of us feeling and speaking first person personal in the now.

Has anyone ever read any writings by Chief Seattle?  Read some things that he’s written.  This man speaks from the heart and his words are so powerful you get goose bumps all over your body reading what he wrote, because as he spoke, his heart was completely connected to his language, and he will bring tears to your eyes reading what he wrote.  He spoke very little, but when he spoke it was profound.

When I was very young, I was married to this really wonderful woman, and I remember I met her from this old Victorian house in Berkeley.  We were both following the master that we were both initiated by.  When she walked in the door, I thought she was

thirteen, she was four years older than I was.  She had died purple gloves and a little beaded dress and a little beaded jacket.  She was all like in antique vintage clothes, and I thought “I love this woman.”  She rarely spoke, but when she opened her mouth, it was profound what would come out of it.  I just thought, “I love this person.” As soon as I walked into her bedroom, she had this wall of little vials that were filled with perfectly preserved dandelion flowers, just dandelion flowers.  And I thought “I love this woman.”  She was one of the most amazing people I had yet to know.  I had the great good fortune to be godfather to her little girl.  And we’re very close to this day. So when we speak with specifics connected to our heart, our words have power.  What makes a great speaker?  What makes your word have power is your heart connected to it.  What makes a lousy speaker is that you are so shielded by your fear of someone seeing what you are, choosing no one to see because you have no tolerance for it in your own self, that you speak in shallow terminology, vague terminology, and people never get who you are.  They don’t get who you are because you are afraid to have people see who you are because you can barely stand to look at who you are yourself.

So wake up.  Begin to start using your language that will give you intense power and know that there is nothing about you that is not lovable.

One of the most profound gifts that you can give yourself is your own self-acceptance and your own self-compassion, and your language will begin to reflect this as your thinking begins to.  Your language is the back door to correct the thinking.  It is the back door.

In the language of exaggeration, we produce vagueness by omitting personal specific information.  By using exaggeration, we speak nonpersonally, unrealistically as an avoidance of our feelings.  Emotions are the key to having our word manifest.  The subconscious takes your language literally.

Examples of exaggeration:  “Everyone.”  Who specifically?  Is what you’re saying including all people on the planet, whoever lived throughout time?  This is what “everyone” means.

”Everything.”  What specifically?  Is what you’re saying including all things which ever existed physically and nonphysical throughout time?  “Always.”  Is what you’re saying including all time from the beginning of time into infinity forever?

Language Upgrades

Language is Powerful

Language is Powerful

Our subconscious mind takes our language literally and personally.  Because we have been speaking in forms of language that we hear around us daily, we are often unaware of what we are actually programming into our subconscious mind.  Our goal is to use language that is outcome oriented first person accountable, and moving in the direction of our goals and objectives.

The following is a list of commonly used words, which disempower and some language upgrade alternatives to begin to shift our thinking.

Disempowerment                                          Language Upgrade

1. I want                                                          My choice is, I require

2. I need                                                          I desire

3. I’m not                                                        I am
